1. Introduction

Welcome to TubeCaps ("we", "our", or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains how data is processed when you use our Chrome Extension.

2. Data Collection & Storage

We do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles.

• Local Storage: Extension settings are stored on your device via Chrome storage.local (for example: provider selection, model preferences, language mode, and feature state).
• No Behavioral Tracking: We do not use third-party ad trackers or sell browsing behavior data.

3. AI Processing

TubeCaps provides subtitle, script diagnosis, and AI optimization features. To provide these features, data may be processed as follows:

• Transient Processing: When you run AI features, relevant request payloads are sent to our proxy endpoint hosted on Cloudflare Workers (api.lunacydev.com).
• Model Provider Forwarding: The proxy forwards requests to the model provider you configure (for example OpenAI-compatible providers, Gemini, Anthropic, and others supported by the extension).
• No Intentional Content Retention: Request content is processed in-memory to complete your request. We do not intentionally persist full transcript/chat content as a product database.
• Your API Keys: If you provide an API key in the extension, it is stored locally in your browser storage so requests can be authenticated.

4. Chrome Extension Permissions

We request the minimum permissions necessary for the extension to function:

• activeTab: Required to interact with the current YouTube tab for feature execution.
• scripting: Required to inject and run the extension sidebar/interface on YouTube pages.
• storage: Required to store preferences and configured provider settings locally.
• fontSettings: Used to align extension UI scale with browser default font size for readability.
• Host access: The extension runs on YouTube pages and may connect to configured backend endpoints required for AI processing.

5. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services only to provide core functionality:

• Model Providers: AI generation/analysis requests are processed by your selected provider under that provider's own policy terms.
• Cloudflare: For secure serverless hosting and request proxying. (See Cloudflare Privacy Policy)
• YouTube: Video pages and available subtitle resources are accessed to deliver subtitle-related features under YouTube's platform terms.

6. Data Control & Deletion

You can clear locally stored extension data at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension storage in Chrome. If you configured your own provider API key, you can rotate or revoke it directly in your provider dashboard at any time.
